Identifying a plant/root correctly is extremely important, because lots of plants look almost identical, but have different effects on the body. Also, some plants could look like a medicinal one, but be poisonous and harm you. You need to identify plants/roots correctly in order to not get hurt and to actually be able to treat yourself correctly.

-Why would it be prudent to know a variety of species from other regions when dealing with natural medicines and food?
If you travel outside of your region and get hurt/ill, you need to know some of the plants in that region as well, in order to be able to correctly identify the medicinal ones to be able to treat yourself in all circumstances.

-Would it make a significant difference if you were traveling in different seasons? Why or why not.
Yes, it would make a significant difference if you were traveling in a different season. This is because different plants bloom in different seasons, so one plant that can be used medicinally in fall, might not be effective in the spring and vice versa.

-As a scientist, why would it be significant to develop a relationship with local people about their plant habitat?
It would be significant because the locals could provide invaluable knowledge about the plants and help you correctly identify them. They know which plants are native near them, and can help you quickly decide whether or not a plant is poisonous.

-If you were found without traditional medicines, would you trust your knowledge of local flora to treat illness or disease? Why or why not.
Yes, I would trust my knowledge, because I know of enough local plants to will treat all common illnesses and I know how to prepare each plant in order for it to be used medicinally.
